Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (25). The France youth international leaves RC Strasbourg Alsace to sign a five-year deal with the Premier League side.

Bellegarde’s move to Molineux was completed late on deadline day, and he left for an undisclosed fee. Strasbourg had been keen to keep hold of Bellegarde, as well as his midfield partner Habib Diarra. Whilst Les Alsaciens resisted Wolves’ €25m approach for the latter, Bellegarde does depart. His transfer puts an end to a four-year stay at the club. The former France U21 international joined the club from RC Lens for a €2m fee back in the summer of 2019.

Bellegarde has started the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season in scintillating form, scoring twice and registering two assists in just three games. Wolves were in the market for a new midfielder after parting ways with Matheus Nunes, who joined Premier League champions Manchester City.
