Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is starting on the bench for the Belgian national team in their World Cup group stage match against Croatia this afternoon.

This is confirmed by the squad list announced by the Belgian FA for the clash, which sees the Nerazzurri striker on the bench whilst Galatasary’s Dries Mertens, Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco, and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Leandro Trossard start in attack for the Red Devils.

Lukaku missed out on Belgium’s opening day win over Canada entirely due to a thigh injury, whilst he was restricted to a cameo appearance from the bench in their loss to Morocco over the weekend.

The 29-year-old is still not fit to start in the third and final group stage match against Croatia, a match in which the Red Devils must get a result in order to have any hope of qualifying for the knockouts.

The Belgium starting eleven for today’s match is as follows:

Belgium (3-4-3): Courtois; Dendoncker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Meunier, De Bruyne, Witsel, Castagne; Trossard, Carrasco; Mertens.
