Inter have officially announced the start of a new chapter for their youth team set-up with the foundation of a new U23 team that will compete in Serie C from the 2025-26 season onwards.
Inter are the fourth Serie A side to launch an affiliated U23 team in Serie C, following Juventus Next Gen, Milan Futuro and Atalanta U23. Milan Futuro will compete in Serie D in 2025-26 following their relegation from Serie C in their first season in 2024-25.
The name of the new team will simply be: ‘Inter U23’.
Stefano Vecchi has been confirmed as the inaugural head coach of the U23 side. The 54-year-old came through the Nerazzurri youth ranks himself at the beginning of his playing career, and has previously had experience as head coach of the Inter Primavera side between 2014 and 2018, as well as two brief spells as caretaker head coach of the first team.

Since then, Vecchi has had spells with multiple Serie B and Serie C teams, namely Venezia, Sudtirol, Feralpisalo and Vicenza.
The team will play their home matches in the nearby Monza, sharing a stadium with the U-Power Stadium with the Serie B outfit.
“A new chapter in Inter’s history begins today with the official announcement of the launch of Inter U23, the Club’s new team that will compete in the upcoming Serie C Sky Wifi season, the third tier of professional men’s football in Italy,” a statement on the club website read.

“This is a strategic and highly valuable project designed to closely support the development of young talents from the Youth Sector by providing them with an additional developmental path.
“Leading Inter U23 will be Stefano Vecchi, a coach with proven experience and a deep understanding of the Nerazzurri world. Vecchi led Inter’s Primavera side between 2014 and 2018, winning two Primavera Scudetti, two Viareggio Cups, one Coppa Italia Primavera, and a Primavera Supercoppa. He has brought professionalism and passion in service of the Club, including during five games in charge of the First Team in 2016/17.
“The U23’s home matches will be played at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, which will serve as the stage for the fixtures of the new Nerazzurri side.
“Their first official fixture will be a friendly match scheduled for Sunday, 27 July at 18:30 CEST in Trento, offering fans the first chance to see the new team in action and to begin writing, together, a new chapter in Inter’s history.”
