Inter have completed the signing of Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a free transfer from Roma.

The Nerazzurri released a statement on the club’s homepage confirming that the 33-year-old Armenian international has signed for the club.

Mkhitaryan arrives as a midfield reinforcement for Inter off the back of a season where he helped the Giallorossi to a sixth-place finish in Serie A as well as a Europa Conference League triumph under Jose Mourinho.

Mkhitaryan’s wages have not been officially announced by the club, but have been widely reported across Italian media as being around €4 million net per season including add-ons, becoming the first Armenian to ever play for Inter.

Neither has there been any information released officially as to how long the contracts duration is for, but it is widely reported to be two years.

The former Armenian international has spent the past three seasons in the Italian capital, having previously played for the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

Mkhitaryan made 117 appearances across all competitions during his three seasons with Roma, and previous career highlights include three Ukrainian Premier League titles with Shakhtar and a Europa League trophy with Manchester United.

In terms of individual accolades, Mikhitaryan was named as the Bundesliga player of the season in his final season at Dortmund.

The Armenian has been signed to add depth to the Nerazzurri’s midfield, reinforcing an area of the pitch from which the likes of Arturo Vidal and Matias Vecino are expected to leave.
