Ignazio Abate has been officially announced by the club as the new coach of the AC Milan Primavera team.
The official statement from Milan was released on Tuesday afternoon confirming that Abate has been moved from his role as U16s coach to the coach of the Primavera team.
He led the U16s to the Scudetto final last season and he has now been rewarded for that promising work.
“The club wishes Ignazio the best of luck in his new role,” the statement said.
The Italian was developed as a player in the Rossoneri youth system having joined in 1999.
He graduated in 2004 and became part of the first team. Before making an appearance he had three loan spells away from the club and then two permanent moves to Empoli and Torino.
He was then brought back to the San Siro in 2009 and made nearly 250 appearances for Milan over the next decade, predominantly at right-back.
