Wales international Sorba Thomas (25) has left Huddersfield Town to join Ligue 1 side Nantes on loan, both clubs have announced. The 25-year-old winger played a pivotal part for the Terriers last season making 41 appearances in the EFL Championship, logging four goals and nine assists. Huddersfield Town ended the season second-to-last, sealing their relegation into third-tier League One. Thomas’ loan move to Les Canaris includes an option for the switch to be made permanent. Thomas reportedly underwent his medical on Saturday.
Thomas is the second signing of Nantes during this summer transfer window after the arrival of Rennes centre-forward Matthis Abline (21). He will wear the #22 jersey with Antoine Kombouaré’s side. “By giving him the opportunity to play in a top five league in the world abroad, he has the chance to explore a new challenge, to concentrate on his game and remind people of what he’s capable of on the pitch“, added Huddersfield Town Sporting director Mark Cartwright. “Having signed a long-term deal with the club, he still has several years remaining on his contract with us.” Sorba Thomas is tied with the Terriers over a contract set to expire in 2026.
