RC Strasbourg Alsace president Marc Keller had already confirmed the impending arrival of Grégory Thil as the club’s new head of recruitment. The arrival has now been officialised in a press release and a start date provided.

Thil replaces Loïc Désiré, who departed to join Stade Rennais earlier this summer. Désiré was brought in at Rennes to replace the outgoing Frédéric Massara, who lasted just one season at the Breton club. Désiré’s move away from Strasbourg was confirmed upon the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season.

Thil worked his way up the ladder at Lens to finally become the head of recruitment. He left the club several months ago, however, he has now found a new project.

Notably, it was Thil who signed Abdukodir Khusanov at Manchester City. The now-Uzbekistan international was signed for just €100,000 back in 2023 before being sold to Manchester City for €50m just two years later. Strasbourg have confirmed that Thil will start in his new role on 15th July.
