SC Freiburg have today announced the signing of 22-year-old Bosnian youth international striker Ermedin Demirović from Deportivo Alavés for a reported €4 million.

“Ermedin is a young player who was really able to develop while at St. Gallen. He is a complete striker and brings a lot of energy and hunger to the pitch. He will have every opportunity to take his next steps with us,” said Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach.

“With the season in Switzerland set to end next Monday, and it being a big step up into the Bundesliga, we will need to be sure to work together on his load management at the start.”

The attacker has spent the season on loan at Swiss outfit FC St. Gallen and had been subject to interest from Ligue 1 club Saint-Étienne. Demirović has scored 13 and created six in 26 Super League games for St. Gallen this season.
