Montpellier’s attacking midfielder Florent Mollet (30) has joined recently promoted German side Schalke 04 on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Mollet, who had a year remaining on his Montpellier deal, guided the side to 13th in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 6 goals and registering 2 assists in 35 league appearances.

Upon the completion of the deal, Mollet said, “I’m looking forward to a new challenge in the Bundesliga with Schalke after spending many years in France. I was keen to take this step and I will give everything to help us have a successful season and to keep us in the Bundesliga.”

In a press release, Montpellier thanked Mollet for his four seasons at the club and wished him the best for the future. Schalke are already enjoying a very active transfer window. Mollet is the seventh man through the door since they secured promotion from the Bundesliga 2.
