Feyenoord have announced the signing of Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez, with the 21-year-old joining on a four-year deal.
Arne Slot and co have been rebuilding their front line this summer, with Javairo Dilrosun, Oussama Idrissi and Danilo being signed to replace Luis Sinisterra, Cyril Dessers and Reiss Nelson, all of whom have left the club.
That rebuild has continued with the signing of Gimenez, who ended last season in fine form, scoring six goals in the final six games of the campaign for Cruz Azul.
Shortly before that run, he scored his first goal for the Mexican national team and will surely go to the World Cup if he performs as well in Rotterdam as he did in his home country.
“I was immediately very enthusiastic when I heard about Feyenoord’s interest,” he told the Feyenoord website.
“It’s a dream for me to play for such a big club. I have very consciously chosen this step and am grateful to everyone for the warm welcome.
“I believe that together we can work towards something very beautiful and experience great successes.”
