Official: Familiar faces await as Real Madrid learn star-studded Champions League opponents | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Thursday evening discovered their opponents for the league phase of the upcoming edition of the Champions League.

And safe to say, Los Blancos will not have it easy in navigating their way through the opening stage of their latest European adventure…

This comes with Xabi Alonso’s troops having been pitted against a whole host of giants from across the continent.

Two such clubs come from the Premier League, in the form of Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Also on the agenda for Real are Italian heavyweights Juventus, alongside the always-dangerous Benfica, and Olympique Marseille.

And rounding things out in a tantalising league setup are Olympiacos, Monaco, and Kairat Almaty.

For those not aware, the new Champions League format will see each team lock horns in a one-off outing, determining their finish in the overall table, and subsequent qualification for the knockout stages of the competition.
