Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star James Rodríguez has on Monday officially sealed a return to La Liga.
His landing spot for the season ahead? Rayo Vallecano.
James, for his part, is fresh off something of a whirlwind summer in his native South America.
First, he was named Player of the Tournament, owing to his exploits in guiding Colombia to the finale of the Copa América.
Then, days later, confirmation was forthcoming that the one-time Bayern Munich and Everton man had reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract with Brazilian giants São Paulo.
James’ decision came with a view to taking advantage of his Copa brilliance, to secure a return to Europe.
A number of clubs, in turn, were tipped as potential landing spots for the 33-year-old, who remains held in high regard across the continent.
And, as alluded to above, on Monday, one such outfit have officially wrapped up a deal for James.
As per a statement across the social media platforms of La Liga side Rayo Vallecano:
‘OFICIAL | James Rodriguez, new Rayo Vallecano player. The MVP of the 2024 Copa América arrives at the Club in the Centennial season. Welcome, James!’
