Europa League finalists Roma have this afternoon announced the signing of Evan Ndicka on a free transfer, with the Paris-born defender having left Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of this past campaign.
Milan were reportedly also interested in signing the Auxerre youth gradute, but the Giallorossi were said to have won the race following a more lucrative contract offer. The 23-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the José Mourinho-managed side.
Ndicka made 183 appearances in all competitions in five seasons with the Bundesliga side, and notably lifted the Europa League trophy in 2022, which led to a role in the club’s Champions League campaign this past season.
The former French youth international – who has since declared for the Ivory Coast, his mother’s country of origin – will wear the number five shirt with Roma. He becomes the second player to move to the Italian capital on a free transfer this summer, after Houssem Aouar’s arrival from Lyon.
