Amiens SC have confirmed the signing of English centre-back Osaze Urhoghide (23), who joins the Ligue 2 club on a three-year deal.

Amiens were in the market for a centre-back following Formose Mendy’s move to FC Lorient earlier this month. The Senegalese international signed a five-year deal with Les Merlus after two seasons in Ligue 2. Urhoghide joins for an undisclosed fee from Celtic. Urhoghide joined the Scottish side for €230,000 back in the summer of 2021 and has spent two loan spells at Belgian side KV Oostende.

Having begun his career at Wimbledon, he then moved to Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer before moving up to Scotland. Last season, he featured 34 times for Oostende in the Belgian top flight, and will now move to the French second division. Last season, Amiens SC finished 12th in Ligue 2 and have been active in the summer transfer window. Notably, the club have also signed former Nantes right-back Sébastien Corchia on a free transfer.
