Djibril Sidibé (32) has signed for Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC, the Garonne club has announced. The former Everton right-back was a free agent upon the expiry of his two-year contract with Greece outfit AEK Athens. The 2018 World Cup winner with Les Bleus returns to France after spells at Troyes, Lille OSC and AS Monaco, with which he became Ligue 1 champions in 2017. The experienced Sidibé has played 225 Ligue 1 games in his career. Toulouse have not disclosed the length of Sidibé’s contract.
Toulouse were in the market for a right-back amid the departure of Mikkel Desler (29) to Major League Soccer franchise Austin FC. Sidibé is the second signing of Toulouse this summer transfer window following the arrival of Charlie Cresswell (21) from Leeds United. Carles Martinez Novell’s Toulouse will start the 2024-2025 Ligue 1 McDonald’s season at home against FC Nantes.
