Today is Dean Huijsen day at Real Madrid as the club are set to officially present their first signing of the summer.
The 20-year-old defender was signed from AFC Bournemouth in a deal worth €58 million – the amount of his release clause, with the player inking a five-year contract until 2030.
The young Spaniard signed his contract with club president Florentino Perez today after completing his medicals, following which he was presented his Real Madrid shirt.
And, as reported earlier this week, Huijsen has been handed the No. 24 shirt at his new club.
The youngster previously wore No. 2 at Bournemouth – currently occupied by Dani Carvajal while he has donned the No. 12 shirt with Spain – which is vacant but possibly reserved for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
As such, Huijsen has been given the No. 24 shirt – a kit previously worn by club icons like Sami Khedira, Claude Makelele, Aitor Karanka, and Nacho Fernandez.
The previous holder of the No. 24 was Arda Guler, who wore the shirt in his debut season before moving to No. 15 in 2024/25.
