As announced officially by the Bundesliga side, Stuttgart have signed former Dortmund centre back Dan-Axel Zagadou on a four year deal. On the deal, sporting director Sven Mislintat said the following:

“Daxo brings all the prerequisites that a top central defender needs. He is athletically strong, has a good passing game and has gained valuable experience at national and international level in recent years. He knows the Bundesliga and will accordingly need little time to integrate with us. With his signing, we were able to fill the open squad spot in the defensive area with an excellent player. We are very pleased that Daxo has chosen us and welcome him warmly to VfB.”

The player himself said:

“I am very happy to be here. Many thanks to the VfB officials for the trust they have placed in me. I’m really looking forward to being on the pitch with my new teammates very soon.”

Santi Aouna  reported today that Bundesliga side Stuttgart were set to complete the free transfer of former Borussia Dortmund centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou (23), who had been strongly linked with a move to West Ham United.

although Peter Bosz’s Lyon were also in the race to sign Zagadou.

Sven Mislintat, Stuttgart’s sporting director, has played a major role in convincing Zagadou that Stuggart is the correct move. The sporting director played a key role in recruiting Zagadou for Dortmund back in 2017. During his time there, he made 67 appearances, in what was an injury-plagued five years at the club.
