Colorado Rapids have announced the loan signing of Nantes midfielder Lamine Diack (23). The Senegalese defensive midfielder initially joined Les Canaris on loan from Süper Lig side Ankaragücü last summer. Despite a severely limited playing time, Nantes have decided to make Diack’s move to Nantes permanent in triggering his €2m purchase option last January.
However, Nantes manager Jocelyn Gourvennec does not seem to rely on him with the Ligue 1 club allowing Diack to continue his development elsewhere, probably in order to recoup their losses. Diack will therefore be loaned for six months to MLS side Colorado Rapids. The loan move includes an option to make the move permanent.
“We are incredibly happy to bring Lamine to our club. He is a ball-winning, dynamic central midfielder who fits our playing style very well”, adds Colorado Rapids coach Chris Armas. “Lamine is also a person of high character which also made him extremely appealing.”
