National 1 side Espérance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne, which is part of the City Football Group, has been reinstated into Ligue 2 following Girondins de Bordeaux’s bankruptcy. Troyes suffered back-to-back relegations in those last two seasons. They finished the 2022-2023 Ligue 1 season as second-to-last before finishing the 2023-2024 Ligue 2 campaign in 17th place. However, with only 19 Ligue 2 clubs left following Bordeaux’s bankruptcy, Troyes – as the best-placed National 1 side due to their 17th place last season – have been reinstated to the second tier.

Troyes, part of the City Football Group since September 2020, are set to start the 2024-2025 Ligue 2 season in two weeks against En Avant Guignamp. Troyes have released a statement claiming their budget for a full Ligue 2 season has been validated by the Ligue de Football Professionnel. “We are taking stock of this decision and are working today to build a team that will fight with ambition and represent Troyes with humility this season and for a sustainable future”, Troyes have communicated.
