Leipzig have this morning announced the contract renewal of French international midfielder Christopher Nkunku for an additional two years, taking his time with the German side up to 2026.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man was the subject of interest from various clubs around Europe after an impressive campaign that saw him win the Bundesliga player of the season award.
Nkunku scored 20 goals and made 14 assists as the team finished fourth in the league, while their continental campaign saw them reach the Europa League semi-finals. His performances led to Didier Deschamps calling him up for the French senior team for the first time back in March, and he made his debut against Ivory Coast.
The 24-year-old left PSG, his formative club, back in 2019, after four seasons with the first team which saw him make 78 appearances and score 11 goals, becoming a regular figure in his final two campaigns, and won three league titles. With the Saxony club, he has 47 goals.
