As initially reported by Le Parisien and confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF), Chelsea’s Malo Gusto (21) has withdrawn from the France U21 side.
The FFF have not specified the nature of the injury sustained by the former Olympique Lyonnais full-back, however, it was confirmed that he arrived at Clairefontaine having already sustained the blow.
Gusto was one of four players to withdraw from Gérald Baticle’s Bleueets squad on Tuesday. After undergoing tests, VfB Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot, AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, and RC Strasbourg Alsace’s Dilane Bakwa have all also withdrawn and returned to their respective clubs.
Baticle has called up three replacements following the withdrawals of Gusto, Millot, Akliouche, and Bakwa. Lyon’s Saël Kumbedi, FC Nantes’ Nathan Zeze, and Stade de Reims holding midfielder Valentin Atangana have all received late call-ups. Les Bleuets will face Italy and Germany during the upcoming international break.
