Official: Chancel Mbemba leaves OM

Chancel Mbemba is no longer an Olympique de Marseille player. After three rollercoaster seasons, the Congolese defender has officially confirmed his departure from the Marseille club this Monday, June 30, through a video posted on X.

Arriving on a free transfer in 2022 after making a name for himself at FC Porto, Mbemba quickly established himself as a mainstay in OM’s backline. Solid and experienced, he won over the Vélodrome faithful with his impact and fighting spirit. But this past season was far more challenging: sidelined from the first team, the 30-year-old endured an unexplained exile despite delivering decent performances on the pitch.

Now a free agent, the Congolese international isn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet. He could soon be on the verge of joining a new club.
