Just one group left to be concluded at the World Cup as group H calls curtains following two intense games between Portugal-South Korea and Uruguay-Ghana.
The Portuguese side took an early lead against Korea, but were brought to level scores again through Young-Gwon Kim. Meanwhile, Uruguay took a 2-0 lead, but were unable to qualify as Hee-Chan Hwang scored a 91st-minute winner against Portugal.
Following the two games, South Korea and Uruguay both went level on four points, and had the same goal difference and head-to-head record. Courtesy of their two goals against Ghana, though, Korea had a total of four goals in three games while Uruguay had two, which means the former went through to the Round of 16 on goals scored.
South Korea will face the winner of Group G – likely to be Brazil, while Portugal take on the runners-up – one of Switzerland, Cameroon, or Serbia. The confirmation of the same will come by 10 PM CET.
