Barcelona academy prospect Aron Yaakobishvili has signed a new contract with the club until the summer of three years, it has been officially confirmed.
The 19-year-old La Masia prodigy had a contract which stood to expire at the end of the ongoing season and talks over a renewal had been in the works for a while now.
Now, having signed up with Pini Zahavi’s agency, Yaakobishvili has penned his contract renewal with the Blaugrana earlier today at the club offices.
“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Aron Yaakobishvili for a contract extension, which will keep him at the club for the next three seasons, until June 30 , 2028,” the club statement read.
“This means the 19-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper will remain with the club after his youth career and will join Barça Atletic next season.”
Yaakobishvili is currently a part of the Barça Juvenil A setup and played a key role in their treble success under Juliano Belletti this season.
Beyond that, the teenager even made his Barça Atletic debut this term and has played three times for the reserves while also being a part of the matchday squad for the first team at times.
With his contract renewal, Yaakobishvili will now be promoted to Barça Atletic officially next season, although there is a strong possibility that he will be sent out on loan in the summer especially if the B team gets relegated to RFEF Segunda Division.
