With just four teams left in the 2022/23 edition of the Copa del Rey, Barcelona have learned their opponents for the semi-finals that will take place next month. Xavi Hernandez’s men will have to get past Real Madrid in order to inch closer to winning their second trophy of the season.

Barça began their Copa del Rey journey in the third round with a hard-fought win against minnows Intercity. They then put AD Ceuta to the sword in the Round of 16 before securing a narrow 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in the quarter-finals.

It has now set up a date with Real Madrid for Xavi’s men as they hope to add to their trophy cabinet, having already won the Spanish Super Cup this season by defeating Los Blancos in the finals.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s opponents for the semi-finals, Real Madrid, got to this stage of the competition by eliminating Cacereno, Villarreal, and Atletico Madrid along the way.

The two teams have played each other twice already, with both winning one match apiece.

The other semi-final tie sees Athletic Club take on Osasuna.

The semi-final ties will be played over two home and away legs. The first-leg matches are scheduled on 1/2 March due to Real Madrid’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The second leg will be played in April depending on the two teams’ progression in Europa League and Champions League.

The final of the Copa del Rey will take place at Estadio de la Cartuja on May 6.
