FC Barcelona are set to kick off against RCD Mallorca soon in La Liga. After having failed to register a single win in their last three games, Hansi Flick’s team will want to make sure they get a positive result this time around. However, this game will not be an easy fixture for Barcelona either.
That is why, even before the game, it seemed clear enough that Hansi Flick would be looking to field a strong starting eleven for this La Liga encounter. Given both the importance of this game and the kind of players he has available for selection, it almost felt like a guarantee.
Now, as confirmed by the official starting eleven, that seems to be the case after all.
In goal, as usual, Inaki Pena will be starting for Barcelona again. The Spaniard has not given much reason to Hansi Flick to consider dropping him, and it seems that his words to continue trusting him were honest after all.
Right in front of the Spanish goalkeeper, Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez start as the two central defenders. They have been solid so far this season together, and both of them will be looking to defend their goal better than they managed to do in the previous outing.
On either side of them, Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde start as the fullbacks. After having suffered a serious scare against Las Palmas, the Spanish left-back now seems fully fit and is ready to help out the team against Mallorca’s stubborn defense and dangerous attack.
In terms of the defensive midfielders, Marc Casado makes his return to the starting eleven after having been suspended for the previous game. Alongside him, Pedri reprises his usual role as he will look to provide both creativity and control to the team.
Up ahead in attack, Raphinha starts out on the left side while Lamine Yamal returns as a starter on the right side of the frontline. In between them, Dani Olmo starts behind the centre-forward and will look to be the central point of kicking off Barça’s offensive actions.
Lastly, Ferran Torres will be looking to be the focal point for Barcelona in attack as he starts as the team’s centre-forward. Instead of Robert Lewandowsksi, Hansi Flick has decided to rely on the Spaniard’s speed and directness for this particular game.
