Ahead of Barcelona’s game against Villarreal away from home, Xavi spoke about how important it was to finish the chances they create. Benfica was a tough nut, but Barça would have won that game on most days.
For Villarreal, Xavi had made two changes to the starting XI. Eric Garcia comes in for Clement Lenglet in the three-man backline. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gerard Pique, and Ronald Araujo retain their spots after an impressive showing in the UCL.
Yusuf Demir started as the right wing-back on the night, but despite an impressive game, has been replaced by Ez Abde. The youngster starts as the right wing-back, while Jordi Alba takes charge of the opposite wing.
Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets will act as the deepest of the four midfielders. Gavi and Nico assume responsibility as the attacking midfielders in this 3-4-2-1. Unsurprisingly, Memphis Depay leads the attack, hoping to get back to scoring.
Confirmed Barça XI: ter Stegen; Araujo, Pique, Eric; Abde, Busquets, de Jong, Alba; Nico, Gavi; Memphis
