The games continue to come hard and fast for Xavi, who has barely had the time to breathe since taking over as Barcelona head coach. After taking on Espanyol, Benfica, Villarreal, and Real Betis in two weeks, he has the insurmountable task of facing Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

With the game over an hour away, Barcelona’s starting lineup has been announced, and we assume it is a 3-5-2. Marc-Andre ter Stegen starts in goal, hoping to make more than a couple of saves tonight. He’ll be screened by the trio of Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique, and Clement Lenglet.

Ahead of this trident, we have two wingbacks, in the form of Sergino Dest and Jordi Alba. If the last few games against Bayern are anything to go by, their role will be far more defensive than offensive.

Xavi has deployed three central midfielder out of the four that have been starting lately, choosing to drop Nico Gonzalez for this encounter. Sergio Busquets starts at the base, flanked by Frenkie de Jong and Gavi.

The starting XI will be rounded off by the quick duo of Memphis Depay and Ousmane Dembele. The former has the incredible capacity of holding the ball against the best while the latter can make piercing runs through the defence. While simple in theory, this is easily Barça’s best offensive combination at the moment.

Confirmed Barcelona XI: ter Stegen; Araujo, Pique, Lenglet; Dest, de Jong, Busquets, Gavi, Alba; Dembele, Memphis
