FC Barcelona have released their squad for the final La Liga match of the 2024/25 season, where they take on Athletic Club away in Bilbao.
With the league title already secured two matches ago, there is no pressure on the result for either side, as Athletic Club have also finished their season strong, locking up fourth place and a Champions League spot.
Even though there is nothing riding on the outcome, manager Hansi Flick is expected to go with a mixed line-up once again.
Just like in the last match, he could blend regular starters with some rotation, meaning that Marc-Andre ter Stegen is likely to continue in goal after recently returning from a long injury.
Flick’s squad will be without a few names. Marc Bernal is out injured, while Jules Kounde and Ferran Torres are unavailable as well.
Torres is still recovering from an appendicitis surgery, which forced him to miss the recent derby against Espanyol.
The coach may take this chance to give playing time to players who could be heading for the exit this summer.
Meanwhile, one player is who is likely to feature heavily is Marc Casado, who has now been given medical clearance and is available for selection.
Ronald Araujo also returns to the squad after missing the Villarreal game with slight knee discomfort.
Two promising youngsters, Juan Hernandez and Pedro Fernandez, had been training with the senior team in recent days. While both impressed Flick in training, they did not make the final 23-man squad for this weekend’s fixture.
With the title already secured, this match in Bilbao offers a low-stress opportunity for Flick to test a few players and give others a proper send-off.
