Official: Barcelona squad list to face Athletic Club | OneFootball

With Real Madrid several miles clear in La Liga, Barcelona’s only real shot at a domestic trophy remains the coveted Copa del Rey. Next up in their journey of defence – Athletic Club in the Round of 16.

The two sides met in the King’s Cup final last year, and go head-to-head tonight at the San Mames. Barcelona have released their squad list for the game, featuring some surprises.

First of all, Ousmane Dembele is missing from the list. It was reported earlier today that the Frenchman will be dropped as ‘punishment’, and it seems the club has gone ahead with that decision.

Memphis Depay seems to have picked up a knock in training after the Real Madrid outing and missed out on tonight’s trip.

Martin Braithwaite started the 2021/22 season incredibly but faced a long-term injury, sidelining him for four months. The Dane is back, however, having been given the medical green light.

Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Pedri all make the cut for the list, while Ez Abde and Ferran Jutgla have been called up from the B team, among a few others. Sergino Dest also features in the list but might not get to play, as we saw against Real Madrid.

Luuk de Jong remains suspended for the domestic cup, while Samuel Umtiti is injured.
