La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday been afforded a timely boost on the financial front.
This comes by way of confirmation that out-of-favour defender Julián Araujo’s departure from the club has been closed.
Right-back Araujo, for his part, has seen his name take its place front and centre in the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several days now.
This comes after word was forthcoming that a new suitor had emerged in the race for the Mexican’s signature.
After he was deemed surplus to requirements by new Barca head coach Hansi Flick, Premier League outfit Bournemouth positioned themselves in the running, kickstarting negotiations with the Camp Nou brass.
The Cherries quickly made clear their readiness to cough up €10 million in any deal, terms which, evidently, proved agreeable to Deco and co.
In turn, on Tuesday, the transfer has been made official by Barca and Bournemouth alike.
As per a statement across the social media platforms of the former:
‘FC Barcelona and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Julián Araujo to the English club for 10 million euros.
‘FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Araujo for his dedication and commitment and wishes him every success in the future.’
