Following the injury sustained by Dani Olmo during the club’s 4-1 win over Girona on Sunday, FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that the 26-year-old could be out for a period of four to five weeks.

Olmo has made a stunning start to life at Barça, scoring three goals in three games, including last evening against Girona.

However, the former RB Leipzig star was taken off the pitch around the hour-mark and manager Hansi Flick confirmed after the game that the Spaniard had an injury.

Soon after, reports emerged claiming that the issue was not serious and that Olmo could be out for only a period of 7-10 days, ruling him out against AS Monaco and possibly the Villarreal encounter as well.

But, Barcelona have now announced that he will be sidelined for a period of four to five weeks.

“Dani Olmo has an injury to the biceps femoris of his right thigh. The approximate time off will be between 4 and 5 weeks,” the statement from the club read.

This comes as a big blow for Barcelona who have already been rocked by several injuries in the start of the season.

Despite that, the Catalans have won five in five in La Liga and will aim to carry that momentum into the UEFA Champions League this week.

As for Olmo, he is now expected to miss Barcelona’s next six games before the international break arrives in October.

The Catalans are scheduled to play AS Monaco, Villarreal, Getafe, CA Osasuna, Young Boys, and Alaves before the next break.
