Official: Barcelona announce fresh player departure | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday announced a fresh departure from the club’s first-team squad.

The Blaugrana player to have moved on? Iñaki Peña.

Goalkeeper Peña had of course long been tipped to secure an exit from Catalunya’s capital this summer.

As much came after the arrival of Joan García in Hansi Flick’s squad saw the 26-year-old bumped ever further down the pecking order between the posts.

A whole host of clubs, in turn, are understood to have expressed an interest in bringing Peña in.

And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, one such suitor have officially beaten out the competition to the signature of the Spaniard.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms, after first penning a new contract, Peña has linked up with newly-promoted Elche for the season ahead:

‘Agreement reached between FC Barcelona and first team player Iñaki Peña to extend his contract to 30 June 2029.

‘Agreement also reached between FC Barcelona and Elche Club de Fútbol for the keeper to go on loan for this season up to 30 June 2026.’
