Augsburg have announced the signing of Elvis Rexhbecaj from Wolfsburg for a reported €1.75m. The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract until 2026.
“After two loan spells in Cologne and Bochum which really helped my development, I’m now happy to be here in Augsburg for the long run. My conversations with the club’s bosses were really positive and I’m looking forward to working with the team and the new coach, whose idea of playing football matches my style of play,” Rexhbecaj told the club’s website.
Rexhbecaj spent last season on loan at Bochum, where he played 36 games. Prior to that, he spent 18 months on loan at FC Köln, scoring seven and creating seven across 46 games in all competitions.
The central-midfielder comes as a replacement for Niklas Dorsch, who suffered a broken metatarsal during their pre-season against Rennes last weekend.
