The 23-year-old became the most expensive signing in Atalanta’s history when he joined from LaLiga side Almeira for a reported fee of just over €30m in the summer of 2023.

However, despite the record fee that Atalanta paid to sign Toure two summers ago, he has now been allowed to leave on loan for the second season in succession.

He has now joined Besiktas on loan with an option to buy, which will become a mandatory obligation to buy under certain sporting conditions, the clubs have confirmed.

Toure has struggled to get his career in Bergamo off the ground. He suffered a major hamstring injury almost immediately after joining Atalanta, which ruled him out of the first games of the 2023-24 season and ultimately kept him out until February.

After netting two Serie A goals from 11 league appearances in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign, he was allowed to join VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga for the 2024-25 season, where he scored two goals from 12 appearances in the German top flight.
