Despite the fact that RB Leipzig declined to exercise the purchase option in his loan agreement, Aston Villa’s Kosta Nedeljkovic will remain in the Bundesliga next season. A new loan with the Premier League side has been negotiated. This time, the 19-year-old will remain with the German Red Bulls for a full season.
Sport Bild reports the existence of a purchase option in the deal. The German tabloid does not reveal if the new purchase option is identical to the €12m clause in the old deal. The seven-times-capped Serbian international maintains an estimated market value of €10m.
Nedeljkovic made ten league and one cup appearance for the Saxons last season. With German right-back Benjamin Henrichs rehabilitating an injury, the former Red Star Belgrade academy man will compete with Henrichs’ fellow German international Ridle Baku for playing time.
“Kosta quickly settled in at RB Leipzig after his arrival in the winter and impressively demonstrated his abilities on the pitch,” RB sporting director Marcel Schäfer noted in a club statement. “He combines dynamism, game intelligence, and the will to continuously develop. We see great potential in him.”
“I’ve been able to develop well over the last few months,” the player himself added. “That’s why I’m really motivated to give everything to help us achieve our goals together in the new season. I’m delighted to be back and will hit the ground running.”
