La Liga outfit Deportivo Alavés have on Monday announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks.
The player in question? Asier Villalibre.
The name of frontman Villalibre has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Mendizorrotza for several weeks now.
As much comes after word was forthcoming that the frontman had been identified as a market opportunity on the part of the Alavés brass.
Out of favour at Athletic Club, and boasting strong ties to El Glorioso owing to his prior loan stint with the club, Villalibre quickly made his way to the very top of the latter’s summer wishlist.
Negotiations were therefore kicked into gear between the two parties, with a view to a permanent transfer.
And, on Monday, such talks have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Alavés:
‘Asier Villalibre will once again wear the blue and white shirt after Deportivo Alavés and Athletic Club de Bilbao reached an agreement for his transfer. The 26-year-old striker from Biscay (Gernika, 30/9/1997) thus returns to the Alavés club with a contract until 2028.’
