Hajduk announced on Friday that Primorac will be taking on the role as head of the “Luka Kaliterna” academy from Monday 19th August, returning to the club where he spent five years as a player.

Primorac followed Wenger to Arsenal in March 1997, working under the manager for the following 21 years until the Frenchman’s eventual departure from the club last year. Primorac had also previously worked with Wenger at Nagoya Grampus Eight in Japan.

The assumption was that he’d follow Wenger to his next job in management. With the former Arsenal boss continuing to stall on when and where that might be, Primorac clearly decided to move on and try something else.

Primorac will certainly bring a tonne of experience to his new club, so it’s a very positive appointment on their part.

Arsenal have long been known for their focus on bringing academy players through to the first-team, so the 64-year-old should be well aware of how to improve things at Hajduk. Good luck to him!
