Former England international centre-forward Andy Carroll (34) has sealed a rather unexpected move to Amiens SC on a two-year deal, the Ligue 2 side have officially announced.
Carroll has decided to leave League One side Reading, with whom he was entering his final year of contract to embark on a new journey in France. It is the first transfer abroad for the Newcastle United youth product, who has played for Liverpool, West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion and Reading.
According to the Courrier Picard, the 34-year-old has terminated his contract with Reading before putting pen to paper with Omar Daf’s side. Carroll even trained this Friday morning with his new teammates. The outlet understands that the former England international should be available to play for Amiens against En Avant Guingamp at home for Ligue 2’s fifth gameweek on Saturday night. Carroll will wear the #99 jersey with Amiens.
