Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed the departure of Amin Sarr (23) to Hellas Verona on a season-long loan. The Italian side will have the option to purchase Sarr for €5 million.
Sarr has had a difficult time since joining Lyon from SC Heerenveen in January 2023 for €12 million. The forward spent the remainder of the 2022/23 season at Les Gones where he recorded only one goal in 18 appearances.
The 2023/24 season faired no better for a striker who has represented Sweden in the u21s age bracket. Sarr was sent on loan to Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg where he was unable to record a goal or an assist for the club in 14 appearances.
It had become clear that Sarr’s future looked to be far away from Lyon despite having a contract with the club until 2028. A loan to Verona appears to be a fresh start for the forward and he will be hoping that it will see a return to the form that had originally garnered the French side’s interest.
