France international midfielder Amandine Henry (33) has announced this week that she will part ways with the Lyon women’s team. After signing with the Rhône side in 2007, Henry went on to play 354 games in all competitions with Les Fenottes. In 2016, she joined Portland Thorns FC and won the National Women’s Soccer League the following year. She returned to Lyon in 2017. With Olympique Lyonnais, Henry has won a staggering 14 French league titles, eight French Cups and a record seven UEFA Women’s Champions Leagues.

The 93-time France international has taken to Instagram to share the news. “It has been an honor for me to don this jersey and to have been part of this incredible family that is Olympique Lyonnais. I am grateful to my teammates, coaches, staff, management and especially to you, the supporters, who had been a constant source of support and inspiration.” Henry also spared a special thought to departing OL president Jean-Michel Aulas, thanking him “from the bottom of my heart for his support and commitment to the development of women’s football and OL.”

Olympique Lyonnais have released a club statement of their own, thanking Henry, “a true club legend“, for her contributions to the club. “A symbol of perseverance, leadership and determination, Amandine is leaving OL with an incredible track record.” The 33-year-old midfielder’s contract with Lyon was due to expire next month.

As RMC Sport reported back in April, Henry has put pen to paper with Los Angeles-based franchise Angel City FC. The France international has signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year. “She has led for both her club and country“, adds ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “Her quality of football performance and commitment to the success of our team will make her an invaluable part of our roster.
