It has now been made official that AC Milan will have an U23 team in the next edition of Serie C after the Federal Council confirmed it today.

As MilanNews reports, after months of waiting all that was missing was the official announcement and now that has arrived too. The Federal Council meeting, which was held today in Rome, has in fact made it official that Milan Under 23 will participate in the 2024-25 Serie C campaign.

This is the note from the FIGC: “Following Ancona’s non-admission to the 2024/25 Serie C season, which resulted in a staff vacancy to be filled, and having received an opinion from Covisoc and the Infrastructure Commission positive in relation to the repechage request, the Federal Council voted for the admission of Milan U23.”

The third tier in Italy is split into three regional groups of 20 teams each, and there is some uncertainty at present about which group Milan will be in. If they directly took Ancona’s spot they would be in Group C which is ‘South and Islands’, therefore not ideal logistically.

Tomorrow it will be made official which group the Rossoneri have been put in and it is expected that it will be decided via a draw involving Atalanta and Juventus, given there is a maximumone B-team per group. The teams are as follows:

Relegated from Serie B: Ascoli, Feralpisalò, Lecco and Ternana.

Remain in Serie C: AlbinoLeffe, Arezzo, Arzignano Valchiampo, Atalanta U23, Audace Cerignola, Avellino, Benevento Casertana, Catania, Crotone, Foggia, Giana Erminio, Giugliano, Gubbio, Juventus Next Gen, Latina, Legnago Salus, Lucchese, Lumezzane, Messina, Monopoli, Novara, Padua, Pergolettese, Perugia, Pescara, Picerno, Pineto, Pontedera, Potenza, Pro Patria, Pro Vercelli, Renate, Rimini, Sestri Levante, SPAL, Sorrento, Taranto, Trento, Torres, Triestina, Turris, Vicenza Virtus Entella, Virtus Verona, Vis Pesaro.

Promoted from Serie D: Alcione Milano, Caldiero Terme, Campobasso, Carpi, Cavese, Pianese, Team Altamura, Trapani, Union Clodiense.

New: Milan U23 (replacing Ancona, not admitted).

During a feature that we put out yesterday we answered all of the frequently asked questions about the project, from the squad available and potential signings to the structure of the management, the stadium and the regulations.
