Alphonso Davies‘ future at FC Bayern Munich is still up in the air. While time is running out until his contract expires in the summer of 2025, the Canadian left-back has yet to respond to the German record champions‘ latest contract offer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club is not optimistic that Davies will sign the new contract. „Bayern are still waiting for an official response from Alphonso Davies to their latest contract offer,“ Romano reported. Rumours of Real Madrid’s interest in the Munich left-back have been circulating for several months now. Since the rumours of a move began to swirl, the Canadian has only rarely attracted attention with strong performances.

However, Davies experienced a bright spot in the recent Champions League match against Real Madrid when he scored a goal to give the German record champions the lead. This could be interpreted as a positive sign of his return to top form. Nevertheless, the signs are pointing to a parting of the ways as the protracted contract negotiations between Davies and Bayern show no signs of progress.

Davies‘ side is demanding 20 million euros per year

In March, FC Bayern offered Davies a new contract until 2029 with an annual salary of €14 million, Sky reported. However, this sum is below the demands of Davies‘ side, who expect a salary of 20 million euros. According to the pay-TV broadcaster, the offer of the same amount is still on the table and Bayern will not improve on it.

„We have made Alphonso a very concrete, valuable offer. At some point in life you have to say yes or no,“ Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl told Sport BILD about the negotiations. Davies‘ advisor, Nick Huoseh, criticised the club’s approach as „not fair“ and emphasised that they would take until the end of the season to make a decision. This situation could lead Bayern to withdraw the offer before the season ends.

Real Madrid are interested, but are keen to acquire Davies at a „fair price“. Speculation about a transfer fee of 50 to 70 million euros does not seem acceptable to the Whites. „Real Madrid know that the player would like to move to them, but would only become active if Bayern were to sell him at a ‚fair price‘ and not for the rumoured 50, 60, 70 million euros,“ Romano added.

It must be a „favourable option“ for Real Madrid to secure Davies, especially as they are already very happy with Ferland Mendy. Davies‘ market value is currently estimated at 60 million euros.
