Huddersfield Town have been one of the surprise package of the campaign so far, with the club flying high near the top six in the Championship.

A lot of onlookers tipped the Terriers for a battle against the drop – and the club’s fans themselves probably thought so too. Instead, they’ve looked solid and have battled hard to be in the mix for a play-off place with 11 games gone in the current campaign.

The season is a slog though and there is plenty of time for things to either go sour or improve further. Which way it turns could largely depend on the way that the club approaches the winter transfer window.

January provides a side with a chance to recruit some fresh faces to give them that extra push towards promotion or give them the chance to offload some unneeded bodies.

Will Lewis O’Brien attract some interest?

The versatile Lewis O’Brien has looked fantastic at times for the club this year and is a reliable face for the Terriers in the centre of the field.

He’s a battler, who constantly works hard for his side both in terms of attack and defence. Defensively he is a machine, capable of sticking in a vital foot to stop an opposition move or marking a man out of a game. In attack, he doesn’t mind a pot shot of his own and his vision doesn’t let him down either.

He seems like the full package in a player – and with an age of just 22, it wouldn’t be surprising if some sides higher up the table or football pyramid decide to take a gamble on him.

O’Brien has been hugely important for the club so far, so they won’t be prepared to let him go on the cheap. Even so, it may not deter interest in the youngster if he keeps playing the way he has been. A team vying for the title – like Fulham, Stoke or even West Brom – might fancy adding another hard-working grafter into the middle of their teams.

If the offers start coming in, the Terriers may find it hard to turn them down, and we could even see Leeds United renew their heavy summer interest by making another approach in January.

Huddersfield have spread the goals amongst their team so far this season, with their top goalscorers so far being Danny Ward and Matty Pearson.

However, would it be worth adding another forward to their squad in the winter window?

They have a few wingers and a few out-and-out strikers on their books already but they could perhaps do with another, more prolific, addition.

Frazier Campbell has yet to get on the scoresheet, Jordan Rhodes is injured and when he returns there is no guarantee he will be back to his best and while Danny Ward has three, an injury to the 29-year old would be a worry for the club.

With that being said, it may be worth looking at some available options then when January rolls around.

There could be some cheap options out there who they could invest in or they could even look to bring in a young player with the potential to have good resale value. With the amount of forwards on their books though, they may be best served bringing in someone on a short-term basis to help them see out the remainder of the campaign.
