Oaktree Capital are planning to build their project as Inter Milan owners around the figure of coach Simone Inzaghi.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday, Inzaghi confirmed that he has plans to meet with representatives of Oaktree very soon.

The coach said that tomorrow is the day that he will sit down with figures from within the US-based fund.

Oaktree representatives have already met with Inter CEOs Beppe Marotta and Alessandro Antonello.

The fund have started to coordinate with the existing Inter senior management regarding their strategy both on and off the pitch,

But the first meeting with the coach will be an important one. It will constitute the first contact between the Nerazzurri’s new owners and the man who has built the team in his image.

Far from it, the newspaper anticipate, Inzaghi’s growing importance is a trend that will only continue under the US-based ownership.

The coach has already won six trophies at Inter. He has also guided the team to a Champions League final.

From the perspective Oaktree, Inzaghi represents both stability and momentum.

Therefore, the fund will make perfectly clear to the coach that they want him at the helm for the long term.
