After a hard-fought late draw against St Mirren, Celtic travelled to Pittodrie this afternoon to clash heads with Aberdeen. The Dons shattered the Hoops’ treble dreams in the Scottish Cup final; however, the champions of Scotland seek revenge in style by clinching a commanding 2-0 win on the road.

Below are the Celtic players rated in their victory against Aberdeen.

Kasper Schmeichel: 7.5

Was hardly tested between the sticks in the first half, but made a smart save to deny Dante Polvara en route to grabbing back-to-back clean sheets.

Alistair Johnston: 7.5

Balanced his game between attack and defence while featuring as a right fullback. Whipped in a few crosses and linked up well with Benjamin Nygren and James Forrest down the wide. Was taken off for Anthony Ralston minutes before the final whistle.

Cameron Carter-Vickers: 7.5

Dominated the duels and was also accurate with his tackles and challenges. His ball-playing ability helped the Bhoys build the game up from the back.

Liam Scales: 7

Retained his place alongside Carter-Vickers. Made some no-nonsense clearances and also showed his aerial supremacy in the heart of the backline. Shifted down the left following Kieran Tierney’s exit, making way for Auston Trusty to slot in deep defence.

Kieran Tierney: 8

Brendan Rodgers decided not to play him the full game due to a lack of football in recent times, but the Scotsman made his presence known by setting up Nyrgren with his trademark cross.

Callum McGregor: 8

The skipper drove the show from the base with his passing, distribution and the ability to carry the ball forward from the deep to operate in the advanced areas. His presence as a ‘number six’ enabled Nygren and Reo Hatate to move box-to-box and pose persistent attacking threats up top.

Benjamin Nygren: 9

The Celts’ summer signing demonstrated his mastery with finesse, flair and footwork. Made no mistake to find the net from Tierney’s cross, and then assisted his midfield partner for a spectacular goal.

Reo Hatate: 8.5

Besides his work rate in the middle of the park, the Japanese midfield ace doubled the lead with a stellar strike from the edge of the box. Made way for Arne Engels late in the contest.

James Forrest: 7

Was handed a rare start ahead of Yang. The veteran Scotsman posed a constant threat down the right with his dribbles, one-twos, lay-offs, cut-insides and crosses. Made way for Luke McCowan with 12 minutes remaining.

Daizen Maeda: 6.5

A below-par outing from the Samurai Blue sensation, as he lost the majority of duels and had the fewest touches of any outfield player to play 90 minutes.

Adam Idah: 6

Lacked the impact while spearheading the attack. Looked isolated upfront with limited touches and goal-bound attempts. Was taken off for Shin Yamada midway through the second half.

Was brought in to offer attacking firepower for the final few minutes.
