It was all NYCFC in the early going as San Jose was quickly pinned into their own half thanks to waves of Pigeon pressure.

It took until after the break for the hosts to find the opener through Hannes Wolf much with the run of play.

But the Earthquakes did not collapse, and in fact found a leveler almost immediately after NYCFC took the lead thanks to a superb ball in behind by Hernán López to pick out Amahl Pellegrino, who slotted home.

The hosts would not be denied however, and they finally found their winner when Santi Rodríguez picked out the bottom corner after pouncing on the ball from the edge of the box.

The floodgates opened from there when Alonso Martínez bagged three in the dying minutes to help NYCFC run away with the game.

The win sees NYCFC close to within five points of Eastern Conference leaders Inter Miami.
