The player’s status with New York City FC has been in doubt throughout the offseason, with several reports emerging that South American teams are eager to sign Castellanos.

Brazilian sides Palmeiras and Internacional have also been linked to the player, but nothing was finalized.

According to Carlisle, the team values Taty at $15m, but have yet to receive an offer that matches that price tag.

The price tag for the Argentine player rose after a stellar 2021 season, where he led NYCFC to lift their first ever Major League Soccer Cup. He earned the Golden Boot after managing 19 goals and eight assists during the regular season.

He even caught the attention of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who admitted Castellanos was 'ready to make the next step to Europe.'

Since arriving in 2018 from Uruguay's Montevideo City Torque, Castellanos has managed 37 goals and 18 assists in 92 regular-season games.

With only two weeks left until the start of the 2022 MLS season, teams must act quickly should they want to sign the Argentine striker.
