OL Reign was the first team that secured their spot in this year's semifinal with a 1-0 victory against Angel City FC on Friday evening, who were playing in the playoffs for the first time in their history. The only goal of the evening was a late one, in the 87, with FW Veronica Latsko getting a header in the box past the Angel City defense after a pass from the left side of the field from DF Phoebe McClernon.

NJ/NY Gotham won their first ever playoff match by downing North Carolina Courage 2-0 on Sunday evening, qualifying for their first Semifinals. After a collective build-up, MF Delanie Sheehan shot from the right side of the box from a wide angle, scoring in the 45’.

The second and final goal that gave Gotham their first ever playoff win came in the 90+1’ after FW Lynn Williams stole the ball from a Courage defender, passed it to FW Yazmeen Ryan, who beat GK Casey Murphy, securing their place in the next round.

Liga MX Femenil

The last spots for the Liguilla of the Liga MX Femenil will come down to the last week of the regular season.

FC Juarez won three important points by defeating Club Tijuana on Sunday evening, getting into Liguilla positions. It was a very hard-fought match, with the only goal coming after a great team play in the 60’ when FW Julitha Singano’s shot in the area took a deflection and found the back of the net, lifting Juarez into the eighth place in the table.

On Friday afternoon, Toluca FC topped Cruz Azul 3-0, this result allowing Toluca to reach the final week with possibilities of clinching a Liguilla ticket, as they stand in seventh place. The first goal arrived in the 21’ from FW Mariel Roman, who received a through ball in the area and fired into net.
