It took a little bit of magic from 20-year-old Vítor Ferreira to send Wolves through to the next round of the FA Cup against Chorley.
Speaking after the 1-0 win, manager Nuno Espírito Santo was pleased with his side’s performance and gave credit to the hosts for putting up a fight.
“It was a very tough test. A lot of credit to Chorley because they are in a lower division but they are very organised, and they made things difficult for us,” he said.
The stunning winner came after just 12 minutes but the visitors hoped to add more to the scoresheet in the second half. Instead, their performance fell short according to Nuno.
“We didn’t play well; not fast, not good. In the second-half we almost didn’t break Chorley, so I was a little bit disappointed on that,” said Nuno.
“In the end of the game we had to hold on because Chorley created a lot of problems for us … they pushed us against the ropes.”
Looking ahead, the manager reiterated the club remains focused on another tough match in the next round.
“This competition is huge for us. The next game is going to be at home, and for sure, it’s going to be a tough opponent, but now we need to focus on the Premier League.”
